yard sale haul

I don't know if your a yard saler, but I sure am! And one of my favorite finds is craft supplies. Since craft supplies is usually pretty expensive at the store. I find boxes full of stuff for one price all the time. In this case they wanted 10 for the box of stuff. I asked if they would take 5 (I bought a ton of stuff at this yard sale) So they said sure. I didn't get to go threw it at the sale but I was sure it was worth at leased five bucks:}

Yep I was right totally worth five bucks! See those scissors? Ya those all work great! I got lots of other cool stuff too!
Did I mention it was full of cool buttons? It was and they are fabulous! So the lesson here is don't underestimate the power of the box of junk craft supplies....you never know what you will find!

Dresser Revamp

 I have been wanting a dresser for my daughters room for a while. She is three so for about three years I have need one lol! I finally found one at a yard sale. They were asking 75 for this but I got it for 50! That is an awesome deal for this beauty. This dresser is very well made. That is one thing you will need to look for when buying older used furniture. Plus it has wheels which makes me very happy, because I'm always rearranging. Okay so depending on the piece of furniture you will have to decide if you need to sand or not. In this case I didn't need to. In fact I usually don't sand unless it is very prickly. If the furniture had lots of varnish on it you might want to primer. I did use primer on this project. I used kilz primer. I took off all the hardware and just spray painted them white. I love to do this because then you don't have to go buy different hardware. Plus I usually like the look of it just not the color. Then I just painted on the blue pain. I had used leftover paint from a different project. Then I used my Ralf Lauren glaze in black. I love how this turned out! It goes so good in my daughters room. Hope you like it too!

Pillow Case Dress

 Okay so I made this little dress for a cousin of ours. My daughter had to model it for me though. I was going threw one of my friends good will pile and I saw this pillow case. I thought it it had a cute design! So I snagged it up. all I did was measure around my daughters chest and cut the elastic to fit. I cut the sewed part of the pillow case and folded and sewed around the sides. Easy right? Right! Then with the extra material I cut off I made some matching flowers to add to the top. For the straps I just cut elastic and sewed on some lace and then sewed it on The dress. I had my daughter try it on a couple times while I was doing this so I could get the right measurement's for the straps and such. I think it turned out so cute! I had all the supplies at home so this project was free! (That's the best part) I think its so boho chic! My little cousin we made it for lives right by the beach so this dress will be perfect for a beach day!
Side not ( my husband was so funny....he didn't know that I made this out of a pillow case at first and when she was sitting in the corner like this he says, " I thought she got a a pillow case and was playing with it" I just laughed.... I said well it looks like a pillow case because it is.

10 cent shirt Revamp turns purse

Okay so I started out with the hot pink shirt! I had big plans for the baby. I got a grey shirt out of the 10 Cent pile for the ruffles ( I know I splerged.) I cut the arms and neck they way I wanted it, and then I cut open each side and sewed it to be a litlle more fitting. Then I got the rufles made and sewed them on.

Looks pretty good in the pic right? Well when I tried it on the ruffles didnt match and I knew I wouldnt wear it. So instead of tossing my 20cent project in the trash I thought, What can I do with this? I thought I could make a bag out of it for library book. Or whatever we just happen to need a library bag. So I cut it a little smaller and just poked holes threw the sides and tied on the extra material I cut. And Viola I got a cute bag/purse! I bet you never would have thought you could do this for 20 cents!
