Fall Craft

In celebration of fall we did this fun project. This little girl had so much fun with it. We saw it on Pinterest. The original site is  Walking by the way. She liked using her hands and fingers with the paint. This was an easy project if you have all the colors of paint. So go make some!

Home Made Chalk Paint

We actually made are own Chalk Paint! How rad is that! Seriously the more I find these recipes on Pinterest the more I just think...wow seriously how did I not know how to do this! These recipes should have been passed down from generation to generation!  My little girl on top would not get the whole pretend your holding the balloons. This is the best picture I could get.
Of course we invited over some friends to have some fun too!
Okay want to go make your own.....all you do is MIX EQUAL PARTS WATER AND CORNSTARCH! Add whatever color of food coloring you want throw it in a cup cake pan and hand out some brushes!
So after learning about tons of home made crafts you can do with your kids, lv started picking up old cupcake pans at yard sales and thrift stores for pretty cheap! I have found that the half ones are best for kids. Iv used them on many other projects so just FYI. O and The original place I found the recipe is from Let the Children Play.

Birthday Reminder

I got this card holder at a thrift store for 70 cents! Score! Kinda ugly though hu...

It already had some of the dividers in them. I had to make some more out of cardboard but that was easy!
Then I modge podged the cute bird paper around the bottom. Which reminded me how much I LOVE paper! The whole time I was doing this project I was like I love this paper it makes me so happy. Then I just painted the top with some blue I had laying around. I used my silhouette to cut the birhtday reminder, then just podged it on! So fun and easy.

I just glued cute paper to each divider and added some embelishments. I just cut out the months from an old calender I had, worked out good! Then I add my family and friends b days on note card.  I have been wanting to do some kind of birthday reminder for a while. I'm glad I finally got around to it!

My Girl Space

Okay so I wanted to make a little space for me to get ready everyday. Yes I have a counter in my bathroom, but I share it with my husband and he cant understand why I don't put away everything after I'm done using it. Well I'm not going to do it. Its pointless in my mind. I know that I will need everything the next day or even later in the day so why put it all away. So I hijacked this little space in my closet! I love it! I just wish I had the whole closet for all my things! (Maybe someday!) But for know it will be great! And I don't have to worry about being a mess because nobody goes in my closet!

My nephews new room

A couple weeks ago I helped my sister decorate her boy's rooms. They have shared a room there whole lives and they finally get there own rooms! So exciting for them. We started out by painting the bunk beds. I forgot to get a before picture that didn't have the killz. We added two coats of killz then painted two coats of red. Then we got black glaze and went all over it.

This is what it looked like all dry and with the new bedding. I think this turned out so cool! I love it!
I got this huge frame at a yard sale for 25 cents. Yep you heard me 25 cents! So we spray painted it black then my sister painted the back ground grey. We aren't completely don't with this project but     you get the point. All the frames I got at yard sales or thrift stores for cheap!
Okay are you liking the circles above the bunk beds? Me too! Guess what it is..... frozen pizza circles. Yep Iv been collecting them for a long while! I just spray painted them and put sticky squares on the backs and put them up.
And for a new dresser, I found this little guy at a thrift store for 10 bucks. Its pretty cool right.
Well pretty much I did the same thing to the dresser as I did to the bunk beds. I loved how this all turned out! If you do more to this room I will post about it.

10 cent shirt turn's little girls dress

Okay I got another 10 cent shirt from the thrift store....But this time I'm going to make a dress for my little girl. I started out with this spaghetti strap shirt. I loved how it had that brown part on the chest. Right away I new that would be perfect for a little girls dress.
So I just cut right against the brown part on top and then just tried to keep a dress shape going down.
I cut off the straps and just used the tie it had on the top as a halter dress sort of thing. Cute right! All I had to do was sew up the sides and that was that. I did make little flowers and sewed them under the brown part. I mean how could I waist that extra material. ( I sound really cheep right now!)
Then I got my little one to model for me! And boy did she!
The wind just happened to be blowing so I totally got the model hair going on. And no people I dont curl her hair its all Naural! Lucky girl right! I dont know how many people ask me if I curled it like that or if I permed it. Come on people like I would perm my 3 year olds hair.

yard sale haul

I don't know if your a yard saler, but I sure am! And one of my favorite finds is craft supplies. Since craft supplies is usually pretty expensive at the store. I find boxes full of stuff for one price all the time. In this case they wanted 10 for the box of stuff. I asked if they would take 5 (I bought a ton of stuff at this yard sale) So they said sure. I didn't get to go threw it at the sale but I was sure it was worth at leased five bucks:}

Yep I was right totally worth five bucks! See those scissors? Ya those all work great! I got lots of other cool stuff too!
Did I mention it was full of cool buttons? It was and they are fabulous! So the lesson here is don't underestimate the power of the box of junk craft supplies....you never know what you will find!

Dresser Revamp

I have been wanting a dresser for my daughters room for a while. She is three so for about three years I have need one lol! I finally found one at a yard sale. They were asking 75 for this but I got it for 50! That is an awesome deal for this beauty. This dresser is very well made. That is one thing you will need to look for when buying older used furniture. Plus it has wheels which makes me very happy, because I'm always rearranging. Okay so depending on the piece of furniture you will have to decide if you need to sand or not. In this case I didn't need to. In fact I usually don't sand unless it is very prickly. If the furniture had lots of varnish on it you might want to primer. I did use primer on this project. I used kilz primer. I took off all the hardware and just spray painted them white. I love to do this because then you don't have to go buy different hardware. Plus I usually like the look of it just not the color. Then I just painted on the blue pain. I had used leftover paint from a different project. Then I used my Ralf Lauren glaze in black. I love how this turned out! It goes so good in my daughters room. Hope you like it too!

Pillow Case Dress

Okay so I made this little dress for a cousin of ours. My daughter had to model it for me though. I was going threw one of my friends good will pile and I saw this pillow case. I thought it it had a cute design! So I snagged it up. all I did was measure around my daughters chest and cut the elastic to fit. I cut the sewed part of the pillow case and folded and sewed around the sides. Easy right? Right! Then with the extra material I cut off I made some matching flowers to add to the top. For the straps I just cut elastic and sewed on some lace and then sewed it on The dress. I had my daughter try it on a couple times while I was doing this so I could get the right measurement's for the straps and such. I think it turned out so cute! I had all the supplies at home so this project was free! (That's the best part) I think its so boho chic! My little cousin we made it for lives right by the beach so this dress will be perfect for a beach day!
Side not ( my husband was so funny....he didn't know that I made this out of a pillow case at first and when she was sitting in the corner like this he says, " I thought she got a a pillow case and was playing with it" I just laughed.... I said well it looks like a pillow case because it is.

10 cent shirt Revamp turns purse

Okay so I started out with the hot pink shirt! I had big plans for the baby. I got a grey shirt out of the 10 Cent pile for the ruffles ( I know I splerged.) I cut the arms and neck they way I wanted it, and then I cut open each side and sewed it to be a litlle more fitting. Then I got the rufles made and sewed them on.

Looks pretty good in the pic right? Well when I tried it on the ruffles didnt match and I knew I wouldnt wear it. So instead of tossing my 20cent project in the trash I thought, What can I do with this? I thought I could make a bag out of it for library book. Or whatever we just happen to need a library bag. So I cut it a little smaller and just poked holes threw the sides and tied on the extra material I cut. And Viola I got a cute bag/purse! I bet you never would have thought you could do this for 20 cents!

10 cent shirt Revamp

Okay so I think I'm going to make this a weekly post. At my local thrift store they have a 10 cent t shirt bin. Awesome right.....right! So This shirt is one of my favorites now! Look how adorable it is, I'm totally diggen the pocket with a dove on it! I just cut off all the edges of the shirt and sewed it in to fit me tighter. I used the fabric I cut off to make some cute flowers. I just hand sewed them on and tada... You have an awesome shirt that was only ten cents, amazing! I think I like this idea so much because Its a fun project that doesn't take a long time and it only cost ten cents, who can beat that? So I know you are going to go find an old t shirt and totally revamp it up right know, and when you do send me a pic so I can get some ideas for next week :}
